 November 2011

Lunch with Mrs Taylor

Dear all,

Nearly at the end! What a year! NCEA is in full swing and things go on regardless. We are pushed for space and time, but the end is coming.

A big thank you to all our international students. A few departed during the year (something to do with the seismic activity I think) and we even managed to gain one or two!

The girls who have remained have shown great resilience and a stunning sense of humour through aftershocks, a brief visit to Middleton Grange, changing of classes and even homestays for some.

This year we have 5 year 13 CGHS International Student graduates. Ji won Lee is off to study hospitality on the Gold Coast, Alice Li has plans to study medicine either in Hong Kong or the United States. Mint Lertsuphawong is heading to a business course in Bangkok, Xin Yun Feng will study computing at Auckland University and Angel Hyun will continue with her Art studies in Australia. A truly international group!

We also have a number of Thai students in year 12 returning to Thailand to attend the

International Section of Thai Universities and continue their tertiary studies in English.

This year I have been lucky to have 2 stunning marketing trips to Asia – in August to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul and I have just returned from China where I attended educational fairs in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao and Guangzhou along with people from Christchurch and all over the world.  I also managed a quick visit to Tokyo.

My next adventure is walking the Queen Charlotte Track with year 10 and our 2 visiting Singaporean students.  Wish me luck.

Have a wonderful safe Christmas everyone.  Thank you to our Homestays, Guardians, agents and parents for all your have done this year.

I am returning to the bush until sometime in January.

See you next year.
