Applying to the University of Otago for 2027

Applying to the University of Otago for 2027

Thinking about studying at Otago in 2027? Applications for most undergraduate programmes are now open.

If you’re in Year 13 and planning your next steps, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to help you through the application process.

Step 1: Choose what you want to study

A bachelor’s degree is the qualification you’ll work towards at university. Within your degree, you’ll choose a subject to specialise in, known as your major.

Browse our subjects here to choose your major:

Some subjects can be studied as part of more than one degree or qualification, so take some time to explore your options. If you’re unsure which pathway is right for you, talk to your Schools’ Liaison Officer.

Step 2: Start your application

Once you’ve chosen a subject from the list, you’ll be taken to a detailed subject page. From here, select the qualification you would like to study (e.g. BCom), then select Apply now.

This will take you to eVision, Otago’s online application portal. Follow the instructions to create an account and complete your application.

Still exploring your options?

If you’re not sure what to study yet, that’s okay! It may feel like a big decision, but you can easily change your papers, your major, or even your whole degree later on.

With over 140 subjects to choose from, Otago gives you the flexibility to explore your interests while gaining skills and knowledge for the future.

Take our Study Match Quiz to discover which Otago subjects and programmes align with your interests and strengths.

Ask for help if you need it

If you run into any issues during the application process, contact AskOtago or get in touch with your Schools’ Liaison Officer for advice and support.
