The Bachelor of Teaching at Otago is a three-year degree designed for those passionate about becoming teachers. Otago offers the following specialisations:

• Early Childhood Education.

• Primary Education.

• Te Pōkai Mātauranga o te Ao Rua (PrimaryBicultural Education) .

• Secondary Education.

With a Bachelor of Teaching from Otago, you’ll gain the skills and practical knowledge to shape and inspire young minds. The programme is committed to developing effective, inclusive and responsible teachers. Students also spend at least 120 days in real classrooms with professional support, so you’ll graduate with plenty of hands-on experience and feel ready to start your teaching career.

Applications are open for the Bachelor of Teaching. To get into a Bachelor of Teaching at Otago, students need to apply online, attend an interview and be offered a place. Applications are encouraged by 31 July 2025, however they close 30 November 2025.
