Pastoral Care
The support and care of International students are considered a top priority of Christchurch Girls High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora. All International students are well looked after by our friendly staff and teachers through a dedicated pastoral care programme.
International department staff, teachers, deans and school counselors are all involved in the support and wellbeing of our students and are experienced in some of the unique problems International students may face.
From the first day to their last, International student receive regular pastoral meetings, support and guidance. Students academic progression and wellbeing are actively monitored and all International students have access to a range of school support facilities such as health nurses, counselors, student mentors and extra tutors.
The New Zealand Government has developed a special website for International students, the website called Nau Mai NZ and has lots of useful information for International students coming to study in New Zealand.
Code of Practice
As a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora is bound by its practices. Christchurch Girls’ High School | Te Kura o Hine Waiora has received no compliance notices or conditions imposed under the Act.
Copies of the Code are available from NZQA and summary pamphlets are available in English, Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.
