Ngai Tahu Tourism Placement Programme

This programme is designed for Ngāi Tahu whānui (rangatahi and pakeke) who are looking to build their confidence, gain real‑world experience, and explore a pathway into the tourism and hospitality industry.

Placements are available in locations including:
Takapō / Tekapo, Tāhuna / Queenstown, Waiau / Franz Josef, Te Anau, Fiordland, Rotorua, Taupō, and Auckland

What’s on offer:

• Paid at Living Wage

• 12 weeks (flexible start/finish dates)

• Minimum 32 hours per week

• Hands‑on experience across guest experience, operations, retail, and guiding support

• Ongoing support from our Ngāi Tahu Tourism whānau

Applications close: 5pm, 1 August 2026

We’re looking for applicants who:

• Are registered Ngāi Tahu members (or open to registering)

• Are Year 13+ or have finished school

• Are ready for a full‑time, hands‑on work experience

• Are keen to learn, contribute, and be part of a team

We know many of your students are exploring pathways into tourism, and this programme is a great way to:

• Gain real industry experience

• Build confidence and skills

• Understand how tourism businesses actually operate day‑to‑day
