Paying for Hall Accommodation

How do I pay for my course and my university or polytechnic hall?

Firstly, once you get an offer, you must pay around $1000 within 14 days to keep your space in that hall. This means you’ll need access to $1K next month. (savings/job/parents/grandparents)

Then you choose how you wish to pay for the rest – up to $20,000.

The Student Loan from Studylink will automatically pay your course fees to your tertiary provider.

This amount (around $7-8K) is added to your loan. In addition you can choose to get up to $320 per week for living costs and use this to pay a weekly sum to your hall.

Not all halls offer this method of payment. You may have the option to pay in 4 instalments or 1 lump sum. Check the resource attached to this post which are examples of payment schemes for this year (2024).

It’s important to talk to your parents/whānau about how you plan to pay for your studies and living costs. You can call Studylink or the university/polytechnic to discuss options.
