POPO Pathways Scholarship 2027

Warm Pacific Greetings,

The POPO Programme and Va’a o Tautai are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2027 Pathways Scholarship.

🌺 We are offering 10 scholarships valued at up to $15,000 to support Pacific students enrolling in the University of Otago Pathways Programme in 2027.

This scholarship is designed for Pacific students who aspire to study Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) but would benefit from completing the Pathways Programme first. The Pathways Programme provides students with the opportunity to strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and prepare for success before progressing into HSFY.

The Pathways Programme is an excellent option for students who:

• Want to strengthen their academic foundations before starting Health Sciences.

• Have not completed all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) at NCEA Level 3.

• Would like additional support transitioning into university life and study.

📢 Important Information

✔ This scholarship is for the University of Otago Pathways Programme in 2027.

❌ This scholarship is NOT for students entering Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) directly.

Students awarded this scholarship will complete the Pathways Programme first (1 year long certificate) before progressing into Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) in 2028.

Residential College Information

This scholarship does not guarantee a place in a University of Otago Residential College. Students are responsible for applying for accommodation themselves (link above) and completing the residential college application process. If you are offered a place, the scholarship will contribute towards your residential college accommodation costs.

What does the scholarship provide?

• Up to $15,000 towards accommodation costs while studying the University of Otago Pathways Programme.

• A dedicated Programme Coordinator from the POPO Team who provides personalised support throughout your entire Pathways journey from start to finish. This includes weekly check-ins, progress meetings, guidance, and ongoing encouragement to help you stay on track and achieve your goals.

📅 Applications Close: 15 November 2026

This is for all Year 13 Pacific students who are interested in pursuing a career in the health.
