Rotary Young Leaders Award Programme
Year 13s – this is a great leadership opportunity you can apply for now!
Year 11s and 12s – check this out – you might like to apply in future years.
The Rotary Young Leaders Awards (RYLA) is a leadership recognition program where local Rotary Clubs and employers select young adults who currently hold leadership positions or have the potential to lead, either within the community or at work. It provides an opportunity to participate in a challenging week-long residential conference where young people:
-
Discover ways to become a better role model and more adequately face decisions on important personal, work and social situations
-
Exchange ideas, opinions and plans with talented, energetic, like-minded people, in a supportive atmosphere free from pressure and distractions.
-
Develop a close rapport with your local Rotary Club, acquainting you with a leading service organisation and decision makers within your community.
RYLA is a 5 day (4 night) long live-in leadership development course run by Rotary. It and includes presentations, activities, and workshops covering a variety of topics, including:
-
communication skills
-
problem-solving and conflict-management
-
community and global citizenship
RYLA participants are nominated by their local Rotary clubs, which often cover all expenses associated with the program or by corporate sponsor like an employer.
Several Christchurch Rotary Clubs have not yet found young people to sponsor for this terrific leadership programme and are still looking for applicants. Even though the application closing date of 16 Nov has passed, they are still accepting applications and have ~8 spaces still available. It’s a fantastic opportunity to be sponsored to attend a $1200 4-day residential leadership programme held at UC College House and make connections with Rotary and lots of other young leaders.
Don’t delay – apply today!
