The SVA Service Award is a nationally recognised framework, designed to formally acknowledge the volunteering of intermediate and secondary school students.

The five-level badge system celebrates the diverse acts of service students partake in, within their community, whānau or school. Students log hours in the SVA web app, building a Summary of Service to support applications for scholarships, leadership opportunities, tertiary education or employment.

Since its inception in 2019, the SVA Service Award has seen tens of thousands of students sign up and log over 2 million hours of volunteering.

1. Find volunteering opportunities

Find activities that interest or mean something to you. Whether you’re caring for animals, helping at the local op shop or just helping nana – it’s volunteering made easy as.

2. Log your hours

Log volunteering hours through the SVA website or app. You’ll earn you member pin after 5 hours of vounteering.

3. Earn pins

There are 5 SVA Service Award badges: Member, Bronze, Silver, Gold and a Top Volunteer Award pin.

Build your CV

Automatically build a Summary of Service that you can use when applying for scholarships, apprenticeships or employment.
