Rā Tōmene | Open Day is next month
This event taking place on Friday 28 August is an excellent opportunity to experience all UC has to offer.
Rā Tōmene translates as a day to ‘explore, inspect, and look around’, and that’s exactly what Open Day is about. Students and their whānau can spend the day on campus, explore our halls of residence, meet staff and students, and get a feel for the subjects, spaces, and experiences that will shape your life at UC.
If a student can’t make it to Open Day they can book in for a Guided Campus Tour until November.
Scholarship Applications are due soon
Scholarship applications for first year close on 6 August so please encourage your students to apply soon.
The University of Canterbury offers a wide range of scholarships, recognising factors such as academic excellence, impact or sporting achievements. Others have an emphasis on social inclusion and equality and are awarded on the basis of financial need or other hardship. Students should apply for all scholarships they are eligible for.

Hui Tairanga | UC Info Evening videos
Our Hui Tairanga are over for 2026 with the recorded sessions available for any students who didn’t get a chance to attend in person.

Student accommodation for 2027
Applications open on 1 August for our student halls of residence for next year.
CCRFs are due by 15 September, with completed applications due by 25 September.
Other key dates for accommodation can be accessed here.
If there is a new Superuser receiving reference requests for your school, please ensure that the CCRF Administrator has been updated with their contact details – email mail@ccrf.ac.nz.
Preferred Room Type
Students now only need to select their preferred room type when completing their accommodation application.
For Arcady Hall, College House, Rochester and Rutherford and Tupuārangi this means selecting the hall as only one room type is available at those halls.
For Tupuānuku, students can select an ensuite or a single room.
For University Hall, students can select East or West.
For Ilam Student Accommodation, a selection between Hīnau or Kōwhai rooms will be made.
