Uni halls: Meningococcal vaccination

Students entering Halls are encouraged to get vaccinated to prevent Meningitis

See the meningitis foundation for more information about this disease

Unfortunately Meningitis is a deadly disease that spreads quickly through close living situations likes Halls of Residence and Military Barracks but vaccines provide a high level of protection.

Student Health at Otago University have a summary of the information here  (the information is valid to any University in NZ)

From 2023 vaccination against Men B ( Bexsero ) and  Men A, C, W, Y (Menactra or MenQuadfi) are both available free for students entering Halls or Military Barracks.
See your own health provider for administration. Students need to be within 3 months of entering accommodation to qualify.
