WFCD Career of the week: Carpenter
What is a Carpenter?
Carpenters work mainly with wood. They go through the process of interpreting architectural blueprints, selecting the materials they need, measuring and cutting materials to the required size and shape, installing, repairing or replacing the material, and verifying the quality of the installation.
Carpenters must complete an apprenticeship to become qualified, in which they gain their Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry. Having a driver’s license and also experience using Carpentry tools are helpful in finding an apprenticeship.
