WFCD Career of the Week – Electrician
Electricians work with electrical equipment and systems on residential and commercial construction projects. Electricians are called to install, inspect, test, repair and replace electrical components to ensure that all systems are functioning. Electricians must also write and interpret diagrams.
Electricians must be registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board. They have to complete an apprenticeship to gain a Certificate in Electrical Engineering at Level 4 or Electrical Trade at Level 4.
NCEA subjects that you should take if you are interested in becoming an Electrician include, Maths, Physics and English.
