WHAT IS AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST?

Skills Occupational Therapists work with patients whose disabilities, injuries, or illnesses affect their everyday activity. They assess the physical wellbeing of patients and discuss and implement suitable rehabilitation plans for them. This may include implementing changes in lifestyle or in a patient’s home or work environment.

Occupational Therapists must earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, hold an Annual Practicing Certificate, and pass a police check. Subjects at NCEA level which would support a pathway towards Occupational Therapy include English, Biology, Statistics, and Health.
