WHAT IS A PARAMEDIC?
Paramedics are often the first responders responsible for providing medical care outside of a hospital setting. This might include giving first aid, administering medication, and transporting patients to hospital for more comprehensive care.
Paramedics must have a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Paramedicine, an Annual Practicing Certificate, registration with the Paramedics Council, be First Aid trained, pass a police check, a drug test, a medical check, have a full driver license, and hold an Authority to Practice Certificate.
NCEA subject someone wanting to become a Paramedic should take include Biology, Health, English, Statistics, Chemistry and Physics.
