What is a RealMe login
RealMe Account Setup and Purpose for Students
People in New Zealand can create a RealMe account online to securely access many government services. To sign up, they visit the RealMe website and select “Create your RealMe login.” They enter an email address, choose a username and password, and confirm their email through a verification link that is sent to them. Once this is completed, they can use their RealMe login to sign in to different government websites.
For some services, users also need a verified RealMe identity. After creating their login, they follow the instructions to verify their identity by providing personal details, uploading identification such as a passport, and sometimes completing a facial verification. In certain cases, they may need to visit a participating New Zealand Post shop to confirm their identity in person.
People need a RealMe account because it allows them to securely access important government services online. For example, they can use it to access their tax account through Inland Revenue Department to manage tax information. Students may also need it to apply for and manage their student loan or student allowance through StudyLink. This makes it easier to complete important financial and government tasks online. 🔐
